Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about choosing, installing and maintaining our screening machines.
General
What is a vibro screen?
A vibro screen (also called a vibro sifter or vibro separator) is a circular screening machine. A vibratory motor with adjustable eccentric weights moves one or more mesh screens, so particles smaller than the openings pass through while larger particles travel to an outlet. It is used for sieving, scalping, grading, de-dusting and removing foreign matter from powders, granules and slurries.
Which industries use vibro screens?
Vibro screens are used wherever bulk materials need to be sized or checked, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food and spices, paints and pigments, cosmetics, ceramics, animal feed, fertilisers, minerals and metal powders.
What is the difference between a vibro sifter and a gyro screen?
Both are circular vibratory screens. A vibro sifter is usually a compact one- or two-deck machine used for check screening, de-lumping and sieving. A gyro screen is generally configured with several decks to grade one feed into a number of size fractions in a single pass, and is used for both dry and wet screening. If you are unsure which suits your process, contact us with your material details.
Which machine sizes are available?
Our range covers several machine diameters, from compact models for small batches to large machines for continuous production. Model-wise dimensions and motor ratings are listed on each product page. Contact us if you need help choosing a size for your capacity.
Can the machines be used for wet screening?
Yes, vibratory screens can be configured for wet as well as dry screening, for example to separate solids from slurries. Tell us about the liquid, solids content and required capacity so we can recommend a suitable configuration.
Technical
How do I choose the right mesh size?
Start from the particle size you want to pass and the size you want to reject. For check screening, choose an aperture slightly larger than the largest acceptable particle; for grading, each deck aperture is the cut point between fractions. Specify the aperture in millimetres or microns rather than only a mesh number, because the wire diameter changes the actual opening. A trial with your own material gives the most reliable answer.
How many screening decks can a machine have?
Single- and double-deck machines are the most common. Multi-deck machines are used for grading into several size fractions in one operation. The right number of decks depends on how many products you need from one feed; contact us to discuss your requirement.
What materials of construction are used?
Product contact parts are normally stainless steel. The grade (for example SS 304, or SS 316/316L for many pharmaceutical duties) is selected to suit your product and cleaning method. Please state the required grade, surface finish and any gasket material requirements in your enquiry.
Why does a screen blind, and how can it be reduced?
Blinding happens when particles close to the aperture size wedge in the openings, or when moist, sticky or electrostatic material builds up on the mesh. It can be reduced by choosing a suitable aperture and wire, controlling the feed rate, adjusting the vibration settings and using anti-blinding devices where appropriate. Contact us with a description of the material for advice.
What capacity can I expect from a machine?
Capacity depends on the material, particle size distribution, bulk density, moisture, the mesh size and the machine diameter, so a single figure cannot be given for all applications. Send us your material details and required throughput and we will confirm a suitable model.
Ordering & Service
How do I request a quotation?
Use the enquiry form on any product page or the contact page. To get an accurate quotation quickly, include the material to be screened, the required capacity, the particle sizes to pass and retain, the number of decks, the material of construction and your power supply.
What is the delivery time?
Delivery time depends on the model, material of construction, options and order quantity. Please contact us with your requirement and we will confirm a delivery schedule with the quotation.
Do you supply spare screens and gaskets?
Please contact us with your machine model and the details of the screen or part you need (mesh size, deck, gasket type), and we will confirm availability and pricing.
Do you export machines?
Yes, we supply customers in India and overseas. Contact us with your destination and requirement to discuss packing, shipping and export documentation.
What warranty and after-sales support do you offer?
Warranty terms and after-sales support are confirmed with each quotation. Please contact us for details for the machine you are considering.
Can you help with installation and commissioning?
Contact us to discuss installation and commissioning support for your site and machine.
